Thunderbird no longer sends email. Win 10. Firewall turned off. Tried installing Mailbird but it was not accepted. Using this Win Surface PRO 3 which does email properly.

In Thunderbird, click Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings and note the "server name".

Press [WindowsKey]+[R], type in:

cmd /k ping server name

and press [Enter]. (Where "server name" is the "server name" you noted above). For example:

cmd /k ping mail.foobar.com

If the mail server is up and running, you should see four replies similar to "Reply from nn.nn.nn.nn bytes=32 time=40ms TTL=56" (where nn.nn.nn.nn is an IP address). If the mail server is not available, you'll see something like "Ping request could not file "server name. Please check the name and try again".

If the mail server is down, you'll need to contact Tech Support for that mail server and find out when the problem will be fixed.
