Can not download from IE7 in Vista home

I reciently upgraded to Vista home from XP. Works ok except I can't download anything. It goes through all the motions and when it should appear say on my Desktop it's not there or any where I can see. I've tried all sorts of downloads to the same end. Thanks jft

This could be caused by a few different things. Start with checking your personal firewall and see if its restricting downloads. If not check windows defender.
