So I'm having an issue with my Ethernet connection. Here is the issue(s), and the steps I have already taken.

    Issue:

1 - I am connected to ethernet but have no internet access.

2 - Ran Diagnostics getting the error "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration"

3 - Went into admin CMD and typed ipconfig /release. Then ipconfig /renew.

4 - Received the error "Unable to connect to your DHCP Server. Request has timed out."

5 - DHCP service is running and automatic.

I found out that I was going from the modem directly to my desktop. So I was unable to contact the DHCP server. So I wasn't being assigned an IP address. I was connected to wireless so I can post this thread. But now I need to get a second router because I have an apple router with just 1 port. Connected to the modem. This second router would just be for connecting to the desktop. Is this the best decision?
