Can Not Shut Down Windows 2000

    can not use the " FIND" feature. can not eject cd, can not SHUT DOWN. nothing in task manager. HELP ANYONE ?

    THANKS. I am not all that technical but i got so upset last night i just pulled the plug. this morning all works well. Go figure. I appreciate your time and concern and will keep that KB for any future problems. I am learning and hope to keep on top all this virus/spyware stuff. Once again , thank you. VALGAL

    Hi VALGAL, Most of the stuff on the Microsoft sites is written in easily understood language so you dont have to be technical to understand it :) as for your problem it seems to me that the computer just got all mixed up when shutting down,it happens sometimes,before Windows can shut down it needs to close all running programs and sometimes one will not close and thats what causes the problem,so you need to do it via the task manager ie,you press Control/Alt/Delete at the same time then in the box that pops up you close the program causing the trouble,then Windows will shut down(hopefully) you can of course always press the reset button if you like,that will restart the computer without switching off the power,anyway good luck VALGAL.....take care and have a good day :)
