Uninstall MessengerPlus3, Wild Tangent, and CMESys from Add/Remove Programs.

Download and run the following programs:

    Ad-Aware SE: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Install the program and launch it.
First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.
Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.
Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.
To start the scan, click the Next button.
When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next).

    Reboot.

    SpyBot S&D: http://majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

Open Spybot Search & Destroy (Click Start, Programs, Spybot S&D (Advanced Mode).
Click online, Search for updates, Download all available updates.
Close all Browser windows, Click ''Check for Problems''.
Anything that it finds, Click ''Fix Selected Problems''.

    Reboot.

Download and run the LOP Uninstaller here:
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/downloads.htm

Close all browser windows, run the remover, reboot.
Post a new Hijack This log.

I'm still getting count.exitexchange and something like adclick (popup shows a colored graph).

I've rebooted and run Spybot several times, and still at least three "problems" continued to appear (Altnet, BookedSpace and WildTangent, I think). Now that I have not rebooted or run Spybot for a few days, it's back to 7 problems. That *is* normal, isn't it? And I am right to understand that I should run Spybot regularly because popups get installed all the time?

    Here is the log:

    One more thing:

At the end of each "problem-fixing session", Spybot informs me that "some problems couldn't be fixed" and that the "reason could be that the associated files are still in use (in memory)" and that "this could be fixed after a restart" if I agree to Spybot-S&D being run on my next system startup.

How should I interpret this? Because, you see, the problems that are still identified after each re-start are always the same: AltNet, BookedSpace and WildTangent. Is this normal?

I realize that at the end of each session, all problems are indicated as fixed except Altnet.

With IE closed, run Hijack This again.
Put a checkmark on these entries and hit "fix checked":

Boot into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen)

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default,
Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

    Next click on My Computer.
Go to Tools > Folder Options.
Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types."
Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Find and delete these files:
    C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
nvsc32.exe (unsure of location, most likely in the System32 folder)

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box.
The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options.
On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files".
Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
    Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Reboot, post a new log.
