Can someone please help a newcomer out and look at this log...

    My son recently - and accidentally - downloaded something with spyware. As a result, I've been given a crash course in spyware and antivirus protection. I already used Spybot but it did not destroy PGate software. Could someone please look at this log and/or just give me some advice as to how to get rid of this. I truly appreciate it.

    Also make a folder on your hard drive, like c:\hjt. Move hijackthis.exe into the folder, don't run it from your temporary internet files.

    When you post your next log please don't cut off the top.

    Hi Cybertech, I've done what you recommended and here's the new log. It looks like the computer is running faster now (thanks) but PGate Basic is still showing up in Add/Remove Programs. Hopefully it's harmless there...Am I clean? You people providing online help to us rubes are truly great...

    Also I see you have Norton, but I do not see Auto Protect running. You need to open NAV and turn on Auto Protect. I also do not see a firewall running. See this thread for some good free firewalls if you do not have one:
