Ok theres this new kid in my clan, and he got us another server. He's a litte iffy, right. 2 of the peoples cd keys(mine and my friend toshiro's) mysteriously disapeared after we gave out the wonid. There may be a way to get a cd key with wonid. I know that we gave him out wonid's strictly for admin purposes. And they worked until the other day where mine was inactive. I couldnt join any server and it said the key was in use. He may of deactivated the key if thats possible. Not sure. Now my friend just told me he can't play either. If this ******* has done some bs then hes going down.

The CD-key to WONID algorithm is one-way, so there's no way to get a CD-key from the WONID...unless he works for Valve or something.

Maybe he reported them to Valve or something, and said that you were cheating. Are you sure you didn't give your CD-key to anyone else?

Perhaps someone got lucky with a key generator and came up with your exact number, and when two of the same number were detected WON killed both of them off...I've always wondered if that happens.

Not with just 2 of them...it would have to be a lot of them. I've tried to use my friend's CD-key when he was on, and it wouldn't let me play, but the cd-key still works fine.

    Oh crap, 1000th post....I win :)

That's what I thought but it's ironic that both keys around the same time we gave the time we gave our wonID's to the same guy. And they are directly related to cd key's because lower number means lower keys, maybe he put them on a black list or sumthing if he has access to it. He lives 2000 miles away and i called him the other day. Right, it was cuz there was a guy i was suppose to call about a lan party and I didnt have the area code. So he goes hey tek call me, so i did. Seconds later after i told him the name of the guy he had the guy on 3-way. Odd hmm? In Quake/UT2003(not sure which) they see 2 keys the same, they disable both of them, I heard theres a different story with CS but i dont know it.

thats strange.... did anyone get access to your computer? did you go in his server? cause if you go in certain servers they are allowed to download things into your comp or somehow get into your comp.... maybe he looked through your regedit or something.. forgot the exact string but you can find your cd-key right in your comp... i highly honestly totally doubt that it was cause of key generator... unless you two got copies of the game and someone else is sharin the cd key with you guys... weird thing was recently i gave a cdkey to my friend that got his butt banned for havin high ping and a good score... at the same time my friend that uses that cd key imed me.. sayin he was playin cs not too long ago.. so they both was on at the same time... dunno.. just oddly strange that you cant get on... by the way.. if you dont agree with me.. its okay.. but wat im sayin is just from either opinion or just things that happened...

Hi, just a thought, but today I was reading the lastest PCZone mag (Septembers!!?) and there's an article about online cheating in games. A lot of their info on various in-game hacks was obtained from a guy known as Joolz who writes cheat codes for online games basically. What he said was that a lot of programmes downloaded by gamers who want to cheat contain other programmes that enable the originator to gain access to these peoples' computers. He specifically mentioned one that he himself had designed that enabled him to steal cd keys from whoever downloaded it.

If you are on a blacklist using counter strike
He will not say that your cd-key is in use
    He will simply say :

Your VAC banned from this server until ( date ) or
    Your cd-key has been blocked

If it says the cd-key is in use there is someone else at playing at the same time.
I think gb1ker is right but if you do NOT cheat it has to be the work of a key-generator

And yes it's possible to generate your cd-key out of your wonid
But i never seen any keygenerator who does.
I mean if that exsists the great players like SK|HeatoN will have to change it every minute.

Your cd-key is written in your registry and the cheat can read the registry string where the key is in and send it to themself back.
anyway it doesn't have to be a CHEAT , it could also be a half life cd-key changer !!!!!!

Or you just had BAD LUCK and there both generated by a keygen

My key was generated last time i went back to the store and recieved a new copy :D
Maybe you should try that too ( if it's not too long ago you bought the gam )

I have a similar problem with my wonid. A few weeks ago some guy comes on my server where i was playing with bots and ff was on then he started to tk and i kicked him then he comes back and tells me that he works for valve and he tells me my wonid and my ip and the next day I can`t play anymore. Anyone knows if I can do something about it or maybe contact valve.

What was the error message that you got when you couldn't play? He might have just been using your WONID to annoy you, it might not be banned. You can try and contact Valve, but I have a feeling they don't really care...if you realize how many people have these problems, it wouldn't surprise me if there answer was just 'buy another copy'.

I think he somehow hacked me through the bot program (POD-bot) cauz he seemed to know how exactly it works and he changed part of my program. After I reinstalled hl, it worked. :D

Hate to bag on you wilsonnyc but if your passing your Won ID around you deserve some lumps.

You said this was your server? Be awfully tough for him to ban you from your server. Me thinks the guy was talkin out his butt. I can tell you your won id in game just by typing status in the console. Some servers won't display individual IPs others will.
I've met enough "spoilers" and just plain weenies in game. Downloading a hack or using some scripts is for the weak. May the gods smite ye for hacking. I don't mind playing games with kids but I dislike playing with immature scum.
Don't pass your cd key around, ever. No one needs to know it but Valve & you.

You're cd-key is written into your cfg file in your Half-life folder. If someone gains access to your comp, then they can go to the folder and read your cd-key easily. You should get a firewall. I use Sygate. It's free and it works great.

Not quite...the CD key is written into the registry under the Sierra folder, not in a cfg file. The WONID may be there, but I don't think so. However, if someone does gain access to your computer, the registry is just as easy to get into, so having a firewall is still a good idea.
