Can you get online using a Dial up modem with Cable Internet?

    Hi ...got a dumb question I have an old Dell Latitude CP model, it has a 56K modem...Im looking at selling it to someone and they wanted to know if they can get online with their Cable Internet connection at home....any help would be appreciated..thanks....dano

    If you are talking about the computer:
    Yes, but they may need to buy a network adapter.

    If you are talking about the modem itself:
    No

    Depends on their service provider. I have Cox Cable here in Kansas. With our 12Mb service we also get dial-up (though I have no idea why I'd use it--torture maybe).
