can you pinpoint a wifi signal (AP)

    is there a utility you can use to see what direction "weak" access points are?

    just curious
    pk

    tried net stumbler but didnt really have a clue to how it works

    Yes, I call it war-walking. :) Use any utility you like, NetStumbler is good, and see how strong the signal is. Start walking. If the signal gets stronger you are more or less on the right track. If it gets weaker, turn and walk in a different direction. Eventually you'll get dizzy or will find the approx. location of the AP.

    I'm pretty sure that the only way you could determine direction w/o moving is with a very highly directional antenna that would detect the signal only when pointed in the correct direction.

    thanks terry...i was using netstumbler...but the ap isnt coming up the same name as whats on my networks list in WZC selection...its number 85684365483 like that....why

    That number is for the SSID? Been some time since I've used NetStumbler. Maybe if you could show us a screen shot?
