Can you put program files onto a secondary harddrive and the pc knowing it is on 2 not 1. i have a 80gb main 32.7gb left on it and a 320gb secondary with 294gb free( i have only backups on it) and i put a file in it called Program files and am waiting to see if i can or not. is it as simple as just installing onto it or do i have to partition it or anything. i would imagine it is as easy as just having the program installed onto it.

Just install the program as you normally would, however, don't take the DEFAULT installation options, when prompted, instead of choosing C:\programfiles\program name, change it to the other drive, for example, D:\ or D:\programfiles

You can also change the default location, and/or move your existing Program Files folder to your secondary hard drive.

Visit my homepage and click on Partitioning Options, and XP Unleashed. Read the warnings carefully.

Yes it should work, when you install a program there is usually an option to install it to a folder you choose instead of the default (usually C:\Program Files).

In fact it might be better to install them to, say, D:\Program Files 2, so you can tell which drive they are on.

Of course, you can tell also, by the fact that they say D: instead of C: ;)
