I had posted here before about a cannon printer. I brought the printer home to my place and wanted to try to get it to work on my computer. I have a Dell 4550 running XP. I hooked up the printer and installed the drivers and everything installed properly. I recieve no error messages at all as I was before with the other computer. The only thing is the printer still doesn't print. It says it is but it does not. I did buy a catridge but I bought the wrong one. I didn't buy the BC-20 I bought the little one that needs the colour too to fit if you know what i mean. so I'm lost I'm sure what to do. Should i buy the new cartidge or assume that the printer is dead or not working properly. My friend bought it from a thrift store i guess you can call it and i think that there might be something wrong woth the printer. The cartirdge button that you are suppose to press when you install a cartidge doesn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I would just get another printer. Those print cartridges are pretty expensive.

To make the printer work. you will need a BC-21 cartridge (not just the BCI-21 ink tanks). For black only, you can use a BC-20 cartridge.

I'm assuming you have a printer that uses a single cartridge. If yours uses two cartridges, you can install a BC-21 and a BC-20.

Canon has downloadable manuals for most of their printers on their website...
