I recently had to have my computer completely restored due to a virus. I lost everything on my computer. Now when I try to access yahoo chat rooms I can't get in. I can get to the chat room itself but when I click on the verification link nothing happens. This has happened on a couple other sites also. I'm not sure how to fix this problem. Please help!

Hi and welcome. You might have to allow pop ups for certain sites.

I have done that. I turned my pop up blocker off and even disabled my firewall.

Yes, it's up to date. One of the sites I went to said to make sure port 5222 wasn't block but I don't know how to do that. I was able to cut and paste the link for the verification code in the address bar today. I was able to get in that way but as far as just clicking on it and it popping up all by itself that's still not working.

do you have more than 1 firewall running?
Im not sure and maybe wrong (im new at this) but if you have more than1 firewall on then they counteract each other.

I don't know what site it was. I'm sure it was another chat site though. I was trying to get into anything I could, just to see if I could.
As far as the firewall, the only one that I have is the one that comes with windows. I even turned my virus protection and spy ware protection off when I tried to log into the sites.

If they are all chat sites, I'm wondering if something isn't blocking the port(s) they use?

Could be blocked via Windows Firewall, Zonealarm or the like....or in a router, if you are using one......

Yep, I am hooked up by a router so that's probably it.
