A friend of mine gave my brother his old computer an e-machine. It has windows xp installed and have been able to access windows without the use of a password. It was not set up for automatic log on I guess. The default username has always been 'owner' and by clicking enter it would bypass password and log on to windows. Now we cannot access windows at all. It is saying username, domain name or password incorrect - why would it all of a sudden do this?? Have called previous owner and we tried all of his possible passwords and none are working. He says he doesn't remember having a password. Have gone into utilities at start-up to see if there was anything in there for password re-set...nothing. How do we bypass this to log on or what is the solution?

Thank you

Not that I'm aware of - unless he accidentally typed something. How would we know?

We do not assist with password issues as we cannot determine the actual situation or intent. Please refer to the forum rules:

Passwords - Please do not ask for assistance with forgotten passwords and/or bypassing them. As there is no way to verify the actual situation and/or intentions, no assistance will be provided and any such threads will be closed.

jdean,

You should review the rules as well to familiarize yourself with what we can and cannot assist with. :)
