I live in the country so I only get dial-up. So I got to the library with my laptop to use their T1 connection. The last three times I have gone the connection has worked fine with no problems.
Last night I wouldn't allow me to connect. Even though when I hover over the local area connection in my system tray it would say that I was connected @ 100mbps. But when I opened up my browser nothing happened. When I tried to update my anti-virus software it said that it couldn't connect to the server. Am I missing something? Am I supposed to be configuring Network and Dial-up Connections in windows?

I did install a wireless card in my laptop a just a couple of days ago. Would this have any affect on my line connection? I can't use the wireless the library offers because it has been knocked out by lightning.

Doesn't the library have a network guru there to help get you connected?

No, it's just a bunch of old ladies that know nothing about technology.
