I have just bought a new laptop HP Pavilion 15-cc037na.

I can find 2 USB ports, an HDMI and RJ-45 but cannot find a third USB port.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Thanks.

That is the exact one I bought from Amazon UK but I don't know what to do with it.

Check the pictures at Liz's Amazon link, near the top left, they show how to use it.

You simply plug in the USB C part into the laptop and then plug in whatever device you want into it. All it does is convert the USB C port into a "standard" USB port.

I see that but why have it then?

because eventually USB will be changing to type c and gradually new peripherals like mice, printers and anything else will use a type C plug.

The idea behind type C is that you cannot put it in the wrong way round. Existing USB only fit in one way & forcing the plug in upside down can short out the computer and shut it down

Many new mobile phones are going to USB-C, laptop chargers are moving to USB-C. Newer Macbooks laptops come with only USB-C ports.
