title pretty much says it all. its an hp computer with vista. the problem started after we had to manually power down the tower by pressing the big on button because the mouse froze and we couldnt un freeze.

the only thing the computer shows on the monitor is 'disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter'. that is all it says. any help would be greatly appreciated. i dont know a lot about computers and i doing this for a friend.

Do you by any chance have a Floppy disk drive? Do you still have a diskette in the A drive? If yes, remove it.
If no to the above, please provide more details about your computer + what were you doing at the time that Forced you to shut down manually.

The Vista DVD has a Repair option, and in that menu, there is a Startup Repair, try that.
