I cannot install a printer on my XP system. I'm pretty sure that I know why but I'm not sure I know how to fix it. When I installed XP onto my new hard drive I got some error messages saying it was unable to find a few files on the cd. I checked the CD and sure enough it has a nasty scratch on it. So I figured I'd try to continue the install just to see what happens. It finished OK except when I try to install a printer it says "Operation could not be completed". Am I just out of luck or can this be fixed. I know I still have the full install on my other hard drive. Could the files be copied somehow?

how deep is the scratch, cds hold their info right under the label, not on the bottom, so a cd scratch repair kit might be able to fix this.

You could also download the needed files from the makers website.
