Go to Control Panel - Add Or Remove Programs.

Make sure that "Show updates" is NOT checked.

What versions of Microsoft .NET Framework are in the list?

The most versions that Windows XP can have are:

    1.1 SP1

    2.0 SP2

    3.0 SP2

    3.5 SP1

    4.0

If you have version 3.5 SP1(which includes versions 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2) and/or version 4.0 installed and their updates are installing okay, don't worry about any updates for version 1.1 SP1 not installing.

Go here, then click the orange "Download" button to download save the 10.2 MB-size file.

After it's downloaded and saved, close all open windows.

Double-click the saved file to start the update process.

If all goes well, Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 will update to 1.1 SP1.

    Hi,

I followed your advice and downloaded the Microsoft .Net framework 1.1 service pack 1

I am getting the following message:

Microsoft .Net framework 1.1 service pack 1 (KB867460) is already installed. Do you want to re install it on Microsoft .Net framework 1.1?

    Awaiting further instruction

    Thanks,

I wasn't sure if you were still using version 1.1 or if you had updated to version 1.1 SP1.

Apparently, you already have version 1.1 SP1.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Most programs and drivers that require Microsoft NET Framework are now using version 3.5 SP1(includes 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2) or version 4.0 or version 4.5.

Version 4.5 isn't supported by Windows XP.

As long as the updates for versions 3.5 SP1 and 4.0 are installing, don't worry about version 1.1 SP1.
