Cannot launch Wordpad.

Good Morning,
From time to time, some websites offer info that uses Notepad. Unfortunately, my puter doesn't want to put the info into Notepad..I get a message: "Cannot launch Notepad" I can access Notepad from Accessories and use it myself without any probs.
What can I do to the puter to get it to use Notepad so I can read the info?
I have: OS win98se, OE 6, Office 97

A supplementary...
Also, I find the following messages..."File too large for Notepad to open" and then a question whether I want WordPad to read it, when I say 'yes', I get "Failure to launch WordPad"
I hope that this isn't confusing..

Sorry for taking so long to reply.
I tried that website and found that the box beside the Notepad is already checked on my PC and I can't get any further..it still says that the file is too large for Notepad to open and doesn't launch it.
