Cannot open an email that is a picture

I hope that I can explain!
I frequently receive emails that the subject matter is a picture or image.
In the body of the email there is a BOX WITH A RED X., and I cannot open the picture.
What does this mean? (red X in a box).
Thank you.

Hi, One possibility is you do not have HTML enabled in your email program...post what you use to get email please.

the dreaded red x instead of pics

im using yahoo as mail with ie 6 what can i do to get rid of the red x's ?????????

Jenifer, if the emails with the pics tend to be from the same person then the problem may just as well be their end. Get them to clean out their 'Temp Internet Files' folder. This fills up fast and can cause the pics in the email message not to be sent in the first place.
