    Hi there-
I was working on a word document (2013 version) which i hadn't saved once but which was 'autsosaved'. The battery on my computer then died and the document is nowhere to be found. I have tried everything: relocating it in 'recovering unsaved files', typing in .asd, . wbkbut still cannot find it. Is there still some way it could exist or is it lost forever?
Surely, if it was being autosaved and I did not purposefully close Word it must be somewhere, or must in some way be possible to retrieve?

The auto save does not kick in up until the file has been give a name.
I think it is gone forever!

I have not ever used the Auto save, as it is a very dangerous tool always rely on, as you have found out.

Even if it kept saying 'autosaved' at the bottom?

It wasn't saved as anything, because i hadn't hit save or named it as anything. So there's my error. But it kept renewing as autosaved at the bottom, so I just assumed it would appear if anything were to happen

I would turn OFF the auto save and not depend on it.

Yes, stupid mistake. Do you think any kind of data recovery service would be able to get it back? The extreme option and would cost, but it's an urgent document. Is it totally impossible do you think?
