    Hello,
I am having some issues with not being able to resolve the DNS address:
Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.

I recently bought a new laptap while back in the USA on vacation, where it worked fine, now that I have returned back to Europe where I work, I am constantly having the problem of not being able to resolve the DNS address.

I read about using the Google DNS settings and tried it out for a couple days, but this did not seem to make a big difference so I changed back to the "Obtain automatically" settings.

Here are some log files below that I saw requested in another thread for the same problem.

Let me know if there is anything else I can provide.

    Thank you in advance.

    Ipconfig /all

thanks -the first ping failed, a you typed the wrong ip address (192.169.0.1 should be 192.168.0.1

other wise looks like a dns issue as google failed but, the IP of this site did not

would you try google open dns and once setup post back a fresh set of tests - and then see if it disconnects again

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Google public DNS

    Google public DNS
    http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Theres also a link on how to setup those DNS IP address up on a PC
    http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

    How to set XP here
    http://techie-buzz.com/how-to/google-public-dns-on-win7-and-winxp.html

Then once you have set up those DNS entries

    Flush & register DNS

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands:

    Ipconfig/flushdns
    ipconfig/registerdns

    If you receive the message
    The requested operation requires elevation.
Then please open the command prompt as administrator
Start> All Programs> Accessories and then right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

    now type the command again

can we see an ipconfig /all from your wifes PC

The US laptop should work in europe fine, at least they all did with a few international companies I worked for
only issue maybe the wireless - as US use channel 1 -11 only and other countries can use 12, 13 and Japan 14, i think

    try a tcp/ip reset - see below
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista/Windows 7

Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on the screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold and red for the following commands.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog and press enter

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log and press enter

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log and press enter

    ReStart (reboot) the machine.

    If you receive the message
    The requested operation requires elevation.
Then please open the command prompt as administrator - as requested above
Start> Programs> Accessories> and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

Please note and post back - if you receive the following message :-
    Access is Denied

please post back the results in a reply here - its important we know that these commands have worked correctly and not produced any errors
right click in the command prompt box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    when it disconnects would you
    would you type
    209.183.226.152
into a web browser and see if it opens this website (not everything will work)

also lets try a new device driver
make an exact model of the laptop
is it running 32 or 64 bit windows 7
    goto - start>control panel>system - will tell you there

    yes that would be correct

so we know its a DNS issue and you can get on the net - as the pings also confirmed

i wonder if its a firewall issue
Dell often come with a trial version of mcafee (have you subscribed to the service) - lets remove that - you can always goto the mcafee site and log in and re-install

What other firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

When I first got the computer I uninstalled the Mcafee trial from the Control Panel.
I just now downloaded the file MCPR.exe from majorgeeks and ran/removed apparently removed some other objects, then I restarted the computer.

I currently have Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwareytes Anti-Malware running.
