On trying to run the Search Companion in XP, I have been presented with the following error message: "A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup".

I really don't know what to do now and would be most grateful if someone could offer advice.

I encountered the same prob. The only way I'm able to run search companion is to be logged on to the net.Is there a way to disable this?I use dsl service. Also when searching, drive c stalls, freezes and starts repeatedly until complete. All other drives it works fine.

A file that is required to run Search Companion.....

Microsoft has determined the cause of this issue and is working on a permanent fix.
