I just purchased a new computer with windows7 home premium and a 1tb drive. I also have 2 external hard drives.
    1 is 640gb and the other 300gb.
I have no problem saving files to the larger drive but for the smaller one I get the prompt that it is unable to save to that location,
    I am lost???
    Any suggestions???
    Denis

    Yes it is.
I should mention that I had no problem when I first got the computer.
It has happened just recently and I also notice that the security listings on this drive is for special permission only.
When I try to change it for '' everyones'' use it pops up saying that the media on it is write protected.
    What gives???

Thanks to huggie54, the following helped:
Then I tried the following which seems to work for me (at least it hasn't failed yet:
    1) Using a similar approach as described in the preceding response by drpoddar, find your way through the following hierarchy:
    Control Panel>System and Security>Computer Management>Device Manager
    2) Select your specific problem media from the list
    3) Right-click Policies
    4) Select the Better Performance option instead of the default

Will let everyone know if it continues to work.
    Thx for the help
