I am getting the following message when launching outlook

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook, Unable to open the Outlook window.
The set of folders could not be opened. "

I have multiple pst files on different drives. the problem is the main pst file is on a hard drive that crashed. how do I open outlook or remove that 1 pst so the rest of the pst files can launch?

When requesting help it really helps if you indicate your OS and the version of the application your working with.

This link to a MS TechNet thread has several suggestions for you to try. You need read through it several people posted with varying results.

If you go to the Run Command window (START > Run) and type in
    Outlook.exe/resetnavpane Outlook should Start normally.
Since you have a missing pst file, you may be told that when it starts, in which case, right click the offending folder and Close it.
Possibly, you may need YOUR full patch to Outlook which you would enter in the Run window inside of Quotes - like
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\outlook.exe" /resetnavpane
Just remember - that example is what mine looks like - not yours!
to find yours if you need it, go to a command prompt, type in
    dir outlook.exe /s
and hit enter, you will see something like ..... Directory of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
    Good Luck.

tried the Outlook.exe/resetnavpane but I got the same error. I am thinking I am going to need to create a new profile and just reselect all of the pst's except the one missing pst. your thoughts?

Have not seen the /resetnavpane not fix the 'Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook, Unable to open the Outlook window' issue. Interesting. Can you open in Safe Mode? (Hold CTRL key down while starting Outlook.) If so, maybe you can make your changes to your profile ?
