Cannot update Java

    Motherboard: Sony Corporation, VAIO
    Antivirus: McAfee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware, Updated and Enabled

    I was requested by my bank software to download a new version of Java but the installation never completes. Message: "assistant was interrupted before Java 7 Update 13 was fully installed." Have tried several times.
    I have also tried several times to uninstall the previous version Java 7 update 9, but nothing happened. It is still there.

    looking for help I found you. Please help.

    Close down your internet explorer browsers first before updating, I think this causes it to get interrupted or another program installing @ same time.

    Thank you. It did not work. It seems to me that it is a severe problem of the Windows 7.

    There's no need to uninstall an older version of Java 7 before installing a newer version of Java 7.

    The newer version will overwrite and replace the older version.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    Download and save the full off-line file, then close all open windows first, then install it.

    This reduces the risk of something interfering with the install process.

    Like any program that gives you the option to keep it or not, Java has an Uninstall feature as some folks would rather not have Java on there computers. So, like Flavallee stated, there is no need to ininstall it in order to update it.
