So, recently, I've had to change the power supply to my computer because the old one burned out. After this, I could no longer close or manipulate any windows besides Skype and Winamp. I looked it up online, and found the user32.dll.mui fix for it, but the problem is that I don't have a user32.dll.mui file in my system32 folder.

My avast antivirus probably deleted it, due to the bug that it apparently had in thinking user32.dll was a trojan.

I can't reinstall Vista from any disk because my computer came pre-installed with it, no backup disk either.

I tried downloading a user32.dll.mui file, along with trying to rename a user32.dll into a .dll.mui file and placing it in the en-US folder of system32 to kind of force the fix, but nothing has worked so far.

    What should I do?

    My specs:

Could you give us more details on that? What do you mean by "no longer manipulate"? Are you saying programs become unresponsive (freeze) after being opened?

    If possible,

1- Please click HERE to download HijackThis.

    2- Run the program.

3- Click on the Main Menu button if not already there.

4- Select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

5- Copy and paste the scan log from Notepad into your next reply.

6- Do not "Fix" anything unless advised to do so.

    For Windows 7 and Vista:

If Windows is denying access to the Hosts file, run HijackThis as Administrator or disable the UAC first.

By no longer manipulate, I mean I can open them and they are completely responsive, but the commands to move, close, minimize, maximize, or otherwise manipulate the frames of the windows are just completely ignored or unresponsive.

Are you having the same problems in Safe Mode?

I actually haven't tried running in safe mode just yet. Could you explain what it would be if it did the same in safe mode?

I have no idea but there are ways to isolate an offending application if there is one. Let's start by determining if you can get those programs to work normally in Safe Mode.

I actually don't, I stated the reason in my first post, but so you don't have to re-read:

I'm not sure why this hasn't happened before, but it only happened after replacing the power supply to my pc. Before that, everything worked just fine.

    I was referring to user32.dll, not user32.dll.mui.

Run a search for user32.dll on your computer. Then, send a copy to the System32 folder and take ownership of the file.
