Can't connect my computer to the internet using an Ethernet

    Hi, I've been trying to connect my Dell desktop computer to the internet using an Ethernet wire but I have no luck.

    Have you tested that same Ethernet connection with another computer to make sure the connection does indeed work?

    The connection works on my mom's laptop but not on the desktop computer

    Is the Network Adapter OK in Device Manager? Do you see any lights lit near the RJ-45 port when you plug the cable in?

    Is she wired or wireless?
    The wireless might work but that doesn't mean that all wired ports on the router are working.

    To check this, if your mom's laptop is wired, remove the wire from her laptop and attach it to your computer.
