This has started to become extremely frustrating.

My laptop is having trouble connecting to a certain website. I have no idea what to do about it. On the same internet connection, my desktop can connect to it fine, so it's a problem specifically with my laptop.

    Things I have tried:

    Ran ccleaner
    ipconfig /flushdns
Have tried in IE, Firefox, and Chrome
Looked at hosts file (I think I did this properly - just searched for hosts and had a look at all of them in notepad for anything suspicious)
    Turned off avast antivirus
    Turned off Windows Firewall

None of this has worked. Any other suggestions as to what could be blocking it? Thanks a lot!

hmmm. that website doesn't work too well. it loads the login page fine, but then won't work from there.

also it's not the router, because it still works with my other computer attached to the same router. funny story too is i got tired of my dlink router and have a new trendnet router, but the problem still persists.

    any other suggestions? thanks

That Web proxy was only to tell if you could reach the website with another IP address. Looks like your computer's IP address is blocked by the website's firewall or by a server along the path to the website, for whatever reason.

Click Start > Run > type CMD

    In the command prompt window,

    Type: ipconfig /release

    Press Enter.

    Type: ipconfig /renew

    Press Enter.

hey thanks for the help but that isn't the case either.

my laptop has experienced this problem in 3 different locations with 3 different internet providers. i am not ip blocked.

in fact sometimes the site will load, but it's extremely slowly and the pictures won't come up, and then i get disconnected shortly thereafter.

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

    IMPORTANT: Do not fix anything

    Thanks anyways!

    It's so frustrating!!!

I removed ::1 localhost from my hosts file because I checked with my other comp that works and it wasn't there. Still no success. Might just have to format.

Try going to your website in Safe Mode with Networking.

If you can reach it normally in that mode, try a Clean Boot procedure to isolate a possible culprit among your running applications. Read pages 1 and 2 in my link.

well i disabled all the services except the microsoft ones and it still didn't work. so either it's one of the microsoft services, or something else is screwed up. not going to mess around any more though.

Could you access the website OK in Safe Mode with Networking? That was the first step.

In safe mode now, it doesn't work.

Sometimes the login page will load, however it's very basic, and none of the images load. This happens is normal mode too. The login never works though.

No idea where to go from here other than formatting.
