Gone through 3 ethernet cables (2 of which were brand new)
Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple versions of the driver, factory version / newest / suggested etc.
Other than that I know nothing about computers.
Without a description (brand name, model name, model number, etc.) of your computer and which Windows version it's running, we have nothing to work with at this point.
If you know the cable is good and the port on the router or whatever is on the other end is good then something must be wrong with the computer's ethernet card or port.
Well, not sure if this means much but, I did an ipconfig /all it says Media Disconnected, but when I ping the routers IP, it's fine and has 3ms with 0 loss.
I was told this means there's no issue with the hardware, and had to be an issue with the software if I got those results. Not sure if it's true or not.
No wireless issue at all, can still use it 100% of the time. It won't allow me to connect to my ethernet, the error above is the error it gives me when i diagnose it using the troubleshooter.
HERE is the support site for that HP Pavilion 500-123w Desktop PC.
You should add and save this site in your browser's favorites/bookmarks list so you can quickly refer to it as needed.
According to its specifications section, it came with Windows 8 64-bit and has these networking devices: Realtek RTL8171FH-CG Gigabit Ethernet Atheros AR5B125 802.11b/g/n Single Band(2.4 GHz) Wireless
Is that desktop still running Windows 8 64-bit, or is it running a different Windows version?
Was anything done to it that we're not aware of?
If it becomes necessary, you can buy and install a gigabit ethernet card in one of the PCI Express x1 slots.
The integrated device can very well go bad.
I had it happen with 2 of my desktops - which is why I keep a couple of ethernet cards handy.
Expand the Network Adapters heading in the Device Manager to expose the entries in it.
Double-click the Realtek ethernet and Atheros wireless entries to open their properties window.
Click the "Driver" tab for each one.
Submit an image of that window for each one.
