My son has a PC, with an ethernet cable but he now can't get online. Possibly uninstalled the wireless card. The ethernet point has an orange light. There's no option in Device Manager for wireless or ethernet (just RealTek...family controller). In 'settings', internet/wifi connection is there but opens briefly then vanishes. Thanks

Please can you confirm by going to Network and Internet Settings > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings and see if there are any icons there.

We can't get into internet settings - it pops up and closes straight away

In the search bar (assuming Windows 10) type network connections and press enter and see if that comes up.

Right click on that and choose status. What does the IPv4 Connectivity show?

Also go to Details... and confirm that the DHCP Enabled shows and the IPv4 Address, Gateway, and DNS server/s show.
