    Hi,

I have a Dell XPS L321X, ultrabook, which can connect to wifi except a specific office wifi, say TPR. The interesting thing is I can connect to this TPR wifi when nobody is in office, I thought it might be an IP conflict. So I tried to assign a static IP address, but it doesn't work. I have updated the wifi adapters two days ago.

I tried few things like IPCONFIG /RELEASE, IPCONFIG /RENEW, but nothing works. The security type of all the wifi in my office are WPA-PSK and they all have good strength.

We use sharepoint services for our daily office work, which can be accessed only using a TPR wifi. It's frustrating that I cannot connect to it.

    Appreciate your help!

    Thanks
    Pandurangan

do you have an IT department that may be able to help , as on company computers we do not like to change to many things as it maybe against your company policy and get you into serious trouble

that sort of proves you can connect to the network and the password is OK and they are not using mac filtering

I wonder whats different , perhaps the dhcp range is very small - but then it would not need everyone off - and other people would have difficulty

when no one is in the office and you can connect - I would do an ipconfig /all and see what IP address you are getting

issue with using a fixed IP - is that if in the dhcp range - someone maybe on the network and then when you comealong with the same IP address - it will cause a conflict and kick the other person off - who maybe doing something business critical - hence the suggestion to talk to IT

    Wayne, Thanks for ur response.

The IP address is same all the time. Moreover I have all the admin privileges to log on to the DNS server. So If I could get a solution, I can make changes

I did IPCONFIG /all and I'm getting the same IP address all the time, but it's not fixed. Does it make sense?

is that the IP from the connection to TPR wifi

can you look at someones working PC and see what they have in ipconfig /all for a connection to TPR wifi

we can try some ping tests

    also your lease expires
    Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 11 January 2013 11:29:12
so if you disconnect now - each time you log back on upto 11 January 2013 11:29:12 it will give you the same IP - also each time you log on you get a new lease

so if you disconnected now and did not log back on until after 11 January 2013 11:29:12, then you MAY get a different IP address (its also possible to get the same one - if its next to be assigned)

so they look OK and the same as yours

    lets try some ping tests

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> type CMD to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

    For Windows 8
to open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop. Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.

    Type the following command
    Ping 10.1.1.254
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    Type the following command
    Ping google.com
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    Type the following command
    Ping 209.183.226.152
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and

so you are connected to the network and you can see the other PC you posted the details for
The issue is why you cannot get out onto the internet

Is the sharepoint system on the same network - or is it access over the internet
    so you are connected

Does this network actually allow internet connectivity - I maybe miss leading you

    ping 10.1.1.102
    ping 10.1.1.100

This TPR network allow internet connectivity, and the sharepoint can be accessed over internet when I'm connected from TPR network.
