    Hi,

I can't connect to the wireless network at my friend's house. Able to connect yesterday, nothing today. I can find the network no problem but it will not connect. Accepts network key but never connects. I have deleted the network and added it back -nothing. I can't try a different network because they are secure. I am able to connect wirelessly with my other laptop.

The problem machine is a dell latitude D820. I am using the DW Wlan utility. I have tried to disable this and use the windows utility but that also fails. Please help.

You do want to use just 1 utility to manage wireless networks, so make sure you have uninstalled/disabled all but one (preferably keep the one that comes with Windows).

    Now on to the problem:

    • Are you able to connect using an Ethernet cable?
    • Are you able to connect to other wireless networks?
    • Have you tried downloading and installing the latest drivers for your laptop's NIC?

I am at a friend's and don't know where the router is (they're not home).
I can see other networks but they are locked so not sure if I can connect.
There is one unsecured network but it is P2P. Not sure which drivers I should install and what does NIC mean?

    NIC = Network Interface Card

But aside from that, I can supply a link to the correct drivers, but I'm going to need to know the exact make and model of the problem PC, along with the operating system running on it.

Here is the list of network drivers, but you should only need to download the primary wireless one.

I'd also like to see this:

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

I would also like to see that you remove the wireless profiles and try reconnecting. (I know you said this was done already, but I'd like to double-check).
