    Hi,
    this is my set up

    Windows XP
    Netgear wg111v.3 wireless adapter
    roadrunner connection
    Belkin f5d7231-4 wireless g router

I can get on the internet, my netgear wizard shows me connected with it. I can't get on 192.168.2.1 or 1.1 to change my router settings and I can't connect my Wii to the internet. the little computer icon for netgear states I am connect to my belkin router but still i can't get the routers website to run. i can ping the netgear ip address but when I try to ping 192.168.2.1 or 1.1, the request times out.

    Can someone help?

    thanks

what are we trying to get working - the Wii - correct
everything else works OK - correct

does the windows XP PC work OK

Not sure what we are trying to do here -

lets see an ipconfig /all from the working PC
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    {ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
    -> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
    cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
    cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy

    then reply here and
control key + V to paste
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

so you have a fixed IP on the wireless connection and an IP which maybe the default gateway for the router
BUT the cable connection - shows a modem connection

The router has a connection on the back for modem - do you have your modem plugged into that slot - whats the make and model of the modem

if you have the modem connected to one of the LAN slots that will be the issue

the default login for that router is
In your browser, type “192.168.2.1” (you do not need to type in anything else such as “http://” or “www”). Then press the “Enter” key.
The Router ships with no password entered. In the login screen, leave the password blank and click the “Submit” button to log in.

yes, i have a modem internet connection. My router is a Belkin f5d7231-4 v2000. when i type the 192.168.2.1, i just get web results, not my routers page.

My internet cable connects to my modem. my modem connects to my router in the connection to modem slot. then my router connects to my computer.

my netgear wireless usb adapter shows that I am connect my belkin router as an access point. not sure if they has anything to do with anything but i thought i'd throw it out there.

    thanks

well something is not right in that connection, as you have an external IP and should be getting a router IP on the cable connection - lets forget about the wireless at the moment

Modem ==> Router - Modem Connection ==> PC to one of the LAN connections

disconnect the modem and just have a PC cable connected to the modem Edit - router- EDIT
then use 192.168.2.1. and see if you can loginto the router

you may need to reset the router back to factory condition - button on rear of unit

has this every worked with more than one PC
who set it up and how long ago

sorry - connect the modem directly to the pc w/out the router hooked up?

have only used this pc, I set it up. Previously, I had a modem with my Belkin router (no wireless adapter) and my Wii worked fine. Should I get rid of the wireless adapter for now?

edit = My bad - i should have had router not Modem above

we are talking about a number of different things which is adding to confusion
I was suggesting removing the modem from the router and then connecting a PC to the router and logging in
BUT - I think we need to know the setup again and what has changed

you have a Modem - whats the make and model - has this been changed ?
connected to a router - Belkin f5d7231-4 - has this changed
    how was the wii connected

at the moment you have a modem ==> Belkin router ==> PC - but the PC is not showing the correct IP address

the modem is a ubee but no idea what model. i also have a motorola modem SB5101N (this modem was used previously with another internet provider and it worked fine).

so, unplug cable from modem to router and then try the 192.168.2.1 address (leaving one cable from the router to the pc only)?

I had to get a new isp when I moved in Jan because they serviced my area. Last time this worked, I had the motorola modem and the belkin router, no wireless usb adapter. Maybe I should disable the wireless?

It should be if the router was acting as a router - but It does not seem to be

What type of ISP connection do you have
cable or DSL - do you need to use a username and password to access the internet at all?

see how you get on with logging into the router ?

isp is roadrunner, cable modem. right, router is not acting right. no user name or password required. i disabled the wireless adapter, still nothing under the 192.168.2.1. i'm going to try disconnecting everything and reconnect and reboot. i'll be back.

Yep switching everything OFF and back on again - start by switching on modem allow to settle and all the lights to be correct and then the router
post back an ipconfig .all - we are looking to get some thing like 192.168.2.x as an IP address for your PC

    if that does not work

OK if cable and no password required
I would connect a PC direct to the modem and once on interent - then post another ipconfig /all back here
    lets confirm the ip

Of you still cannot log into the router
next reset the router back to factory condition
