I have a file that says its a .exe that I got on Kazaa. Im sure its one of the million of currupt files that nerds out there make to piss people off. Anyway, when i try to delete it, it says its being used by another person or program. I turned off everything in msconfg, reset, and even went to safe mode, and it still won't delete. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    How large is it?
Have you attempted to run it (the answer is assumed yes), as if its bogus, no telling what it is, and how its now hooked in.

Download and run hijackthis, and post the log back here. It may need close scrutiny to find where its calling the program from, as it seemingly must be running at startup.

    Get it from:

Just one thing of note. Don't ever, ever, ever downlaod exe from any peer to peer programs. You are only asking for trouble and hopefully this is just a minor problem.

But while you wait for help try running an anti virus just to be safe, if anything your down during the scan.

    Hi Arc-
I don't see anything in your log. If you find a file that says in use when trying to delete it you can usually start in safe mode and delete it from there.

    Download Process Explorer from SysInternals:

    http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml

Run the program and click the search binoculars. Type in a partial name of the file.

It will search and find all handles for the file, highlighted in the bottom screen. Right-click each one and choose "Close handle". Ignore the warning.

When all handles are closed, nothing will be using the file and you should be able to delete it.
