There are many files listed in this folder. I am unable to delete them. When I go to this directory in safe mode command prompt there are no files. I even used dir /A:H to included hidden files and there are none. But I can still see them in Windows XP PRO. I have Norton 360 and it did not find any viruses. Went I try to delete them windows gives no errors. Some of the files even have the same name and extension. Is there a cache or a temp file I need to delete first?
Thanks
When using the command prompt, the files will be inside randomly named folders, inside the Content.IE5 folder.
If you are using Windows Explorer to view the Temporary Internet Folder, what you see is not what is actually in the folder. It is a "Special Folder". Explorer customizes the view.
Just use Tools, Internet Options in IE to delete these.
Solve 1:Log in as a different user with admin rights, navigate to the folder that
the file is in, rename the folder and move it to the desktop, delete it from
the desktop. Solve 2:Use your disk cleanup tool to delete temporary files as leroys1000 told. Solve 3:Use Internet Explorer tools as per moper's advice
Open Internet Explorer and click on the "Tools" menu.
In the "Tools" menu, click on "Internet Options".
In "Internet Options", go to the "General" Tab. There are two buttons located in the middle. One is "Delete Files" and the other is "Delete Cookies".
Click "Delete Files" to delete temporary internet files. You may have to wait for the hourglass. Tip: You may want to check the box that says "Delete Offline Content" to delete your offline web pages.
Click the "OK" button when you receive the confirmation box.
Next, click the "Delete Cookies" button. This removes your internet cookie files.
Thank all of you, I figured it out.
I am using IE 8. There under "Browsing History" "Delete" "Delete Browsing History" is a selection "Perserve Favorites website data". I had it checked. I un checked it and the delete now removed all the files.
Thanks again for your help.
