Before we do anything, I have been on Google for about 45 minutes combing forums, and have tried all the usual solutions to this problem.

-I've tried turning off User Account Control

-I've tried altering the security properties to "allow all"

-And I've tried the command prompt, which constantly gives me the error: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

I am trying to delete my Windows Live OneCare backup from my external hard drive. It is a back up from 2009. Ever since Windows Live OneCare was discontinued I've been trying to delete those backup files, but I've always given up after a while and just decided to accept that as lost space on my hard drive forever. Now I need the space. Can anyone help?

What happens when I try to change security settings to "allow all" and/or delete the files or folders, I get a message saying "you need permission to do this," with only the options "Try Again," or "Cancel." "Try Again" sends me through a loop with the same message.
