I can browse just fine, but whenever I go to download a file from any internet site, the progress bar immediately lock up, and the download process freezes. I can only cancel out. This is true in both Netscape 7.0 and IE 5.0.

I am running Windows 2000, but I still have my old W98 partition, and experience none of these problems, so its not likely a hardware problem. I have completely uninstalled and installed the browsers without success.

W2K is a new installation, upgraded to SP3. I'm running it on a HP Pavilion 6540c with 190 MB memory; and there is over 1 GB fres space on the partition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
