Have an HP Deskjet Cxi990 that used to work fine; Asus K8V SE Deluxe mb, W2000Pro. The printer works fine when connected to a laptop via USB, but a dialog box pops up with ' ..can't detect printer on Ltp1' sort of message. Tried different port, reloading software, troubleshooting, nada.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Much appreciate the help.

Yes, the connection is a Parallel cable, 25-36 pin.

Yes, connects with standard 25-36 pin. Just tried a USB connection and that works fine.

You could unistal it and try to reinstall it using usb on the 2000 machine. If you have trouble, you may need to update the OS to SP4 through windows update. This is the last resort soultion.

You could very well just have a dead parellel cable. I would try a differnt cable first, before you attempt the soultion above.
