Well it's actually my friends ps3. I've literally tried everything though. There is absolutely no secruity on the network, any device can connect to it except the ps3. no mac filtering. My friends router IP is unique, and has the same dns servers as me, only difference between his router and mine setting wise is mines a much newer model(both netgear). Tried with UPNP on/off. Tried assigning a static IP to the ps3 and manually setting the IP and DNS on the ps3, no go. If i leave everything to automatic on the ps3 it fails to ever obtain the static IP that i assigned. It acknowledges that it connects to the network but it will NOT assign itself a static IP. I've tried resetting the router and doing everything over multiple times. Would a new router fix this problem, why would this problem be happening with my friends current router? Nothing should be stopping it at all. I just brought my itouch over and it connected and got assigned an IP seamlessly...it's just the ps3... and it's connected to other networks before, just not his own.

Have you tryed seeing if the router is compatible with the ps3? I have an xbox and my old belkin router would not work with it.

Hi, thanks for the response. I wasn't aware that some routers weren't compatible with some devices. I'll look in to that thanks. I was literally ripping my hair out lol, I don't know what would make it incompatible. The router that I have is only $30 at best buy so he might just get that and end all these problems we've been having.
