cant get on line

got a presario sr1910 with amd sempron 3200 1.8 ghz system ...i just installed win xp pro from my disk but cant get online....went to compaq site and looked for the drivers but said not to install without service pk 2 need to get on line to do that any help thanx! (got on line on my other puter)

You can install the network driver on SP1.

Just go ahead and do so, then download all necessary updates from Microsoft, antivirus, etc.

You made the mistake of installing a Windows operating system without first identifying the computer's devices and having the drivers available for them.

Did you install XP Pro(original version) or XP Pro SP1? If you installed the SP1 version, you can upgrade straight to SP3 and bypass SP2.

Display Adapters
Network Adapters
Other Devices
Sound Video And Game Controllers


What's listed in each heading?

What's the complete model number of that Compaq Presario SR1910? If you don't know for sure, advise what the product number on the sticker is.

I'm guessing it's a SR1910NX model. If it is, it came with XP Home SP2 pre-installed. The original XP drivers for it are located here.
