You can install the network driver on SP1.

Just go ahead and do so, then download all necessary updates from Microsoft, antivirus, etc.

    You're welcome. :)

If this works out, just remember to come back and click the "Mark Solved" button in the top-left corner of the thread.

You made the mistake of installing a Windows operating system without first identifying the computer's devices and having the drivers available for them.

Did you install XP Pro(original version) or XP Pro SP1? If you installed the SP1 version, you can upgrade straight to SP3 and bypass SP2.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Go into the Device Manager and click the + in

    Display Adapters
    Network Adapters
    Other Devices
    Sound Video And Game Controllers

    What's listed in each heading?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

What's the complete model number of that Compaq Presario SR1910? If you don't know for sure, advise what the product number on the sticker is.

I'm guessing it's a SR1910NX model. If it is, it came with XP Home SP2 pre-installed. The original XP drivers for it are located here.
