Would there be any viruses out there that would prevent one from getting online??

Since my computer crashed on the 8th (I repaired, but CANNOT get online!!), Norton's has picked up 2:

One on the 9th: a script blocking virus

And on the 15th, (no "online" capabilities!!): bloodhound.file.string

Thanks for any help at all....

ok, well maybe someone can just tell me the safest way to reformat and reinstall from the CD-ROM?? The computer is only 2 months old, and I've already backed up the setup files for my personally installed programs to a CD..... Perhaps the best thing to do would be to erase the drive and start over......
