I use nortan anti virus and when i scan no virus comes up. However every once in a while, i get a message from nortan that says i have a backdoor.trojan and it wont delete or quarantine it. Ive downloaded many virus scans, and went to a website that gave me removal instructions, but the message keeps coming up. I dont know what this virus is doing to my computer, but i nkow I have some problems and i dont know if this is the cause. If anyone knows how to get rid of it for good, i would appriciate it. Thank you

First please get Spybot S&D to clear out most of the spyware.

Short tutorial and download link here:
    http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

Fix everything SpybotSD labels in red.

    Then after reboot:
Download 'Hijack This to its own folder http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Disable your System Restore in XP (if this is XP) and then shutdown. Restart the computer and then re-enable System Restore. That is where your A/V "sees" the virus. It'll be gone....but then so will your System Restore points. Make a new one.

rider321 This info may not apply to your case at all. It would be better if you started a NEW thread (post) about your problem. Post as much info about your problem as you can. That way, everyone here on the board will see your post and you'll recieve help. :D

What is the exact message for the virus?

Also FYI on WeatherBug. The program is now linked to spyware and should be removed.

Thank you very much, I am going to try that right now. THe message that pops up says VIRUS ALERT and it names the virus, backdoor.trojan and it names a file. Then it can not quarantine it or delte it. Thank you for the head up on weatherbug.
