hi. I partitioned today to have XP on my machine. When i start up i get the choice screen but it has XP as both partitions. I click the first and that's fine. The second one says a file is missing. ive got a bootdisk for ME, and the 2 partition magic disks that they asked you to make. I would like to get ME back again if that's possible. Just restarted and selected second choice and it is looking for <windows root>\system32\hal.dll
    It is missing or corrupt.

Was XP loaded as NTFS? If so I think that is your problem probably. Others will follow with more information for you I am sure, but in a nutshell its like this. When you dual boot, the first OS loaded must be FAT32 or else you will not be able to access the FAT32 OS(ME). At least thats the best I can give you for the moment, something to chew on till others come.

    Good Luck!
