So sorry, I just noticed I posted this in the Windows 10 section instead of the Windows 7. Can you please move this post to the Windows 7 forum? Thanks!

Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.4
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10
Processor Count: 1
RAM: 3002 Mb
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, 4 Mb
Hard Drives: C: 216 GB (164 GB Free); D: 16 GB (2 GB Free);
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard, 1605
Antivirus: Norton Security, Enabled and Updated

When trying to run Windows Update I get the following dialog box: "Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer."

Have restarted the computer but the same dialog box opens with the message above.

Any thoughts on this? The computer works great otherwise, no error messages, boots-up fine, shuts-down fine no crashes or freezing - works perfect but I know I need to run the Windows updates.

Sure hope some has some ideas.

BTW, I could upgrade to Windows 10 but do you think the computer with these pretty iffy specs will handle it?

So sorry, I just noticed I posted this in the Windows 10 section instead of the Windows 7. Can you please move this post to the Windows 7 forum? Thanks!

Have you looked into "services" and checked if you have Windows update disabled?

All fixed - thanks
larry,

For the sake of others who deal with this issue and need to know how to fix it, could you detail how you actually fixed it on the thread and then mark it "Solved", please?

Thanks (y)
