I'm running Vista on an older Dell Vostro 1500. I had a person from Carbonite take control of my computer to fix an issue I was having with it not backing up. He uninstalled the program and did a restart. Once restarted he had control and we lost connection. I logged back in and no am no longer able to surf to all sites and not all links once I gain access to a site. Also, I haven't been able to download any files including the Carbonite program to reinstall.
I would appreciate anyone's knowledge on how to solve this problem. Not sure if something was enabled or disabled.
    Thanks for any guidence

Try re-installing your browser and network adapter driver.

How, where do I go to re-install my network adapter driver. Thank you for your response. I'll try reinstalling the browser now.

First you have to find your PC brand/motherboard manufacturer. Then go look at their web site and find their downloads page for your motherboard. Any drivers they have would be listed. Download and install.

That laptop appears to come with a Dell or Intel model wireless device.

What's the 7-character service tag/serial number on that laptop?

Frank, service tag HLSH1G1. Believe it's a Dell wireless card

According to that service tag number, you have THIS Dell Vostro 1500 laptop.
It shipped in April 2008 in the U.S.A. and came with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
    It came with a Dell Wireless 1395(Broadcom 4312) 802.11b/g wireless mini-card.
HERE is the Windows Vista driver(4.170.77.3) for it.

Before you install that driver, do the following:
Go into the Device Manager and then expand the Network Adapters heading.
Double-click the entry for the wireless device to open its properties window.
In the "General" tab, does it show that device as working properly?
In the "Driver" tab, what's the exact driver version and driver date listed there?

HERE is a more current Windows Vista driver(5.60.188.1) for the Dell Wireless 1395 device.
Download and save the R251496.exe file, then close all open windows, then double-click the saved file to start the update process, then follow the instructions.

Thanks for your response Frank. Now comes the second part of my problem; the file won't download. Tried using IE and Firefox with no success. Says starting but never does. Is there anything to correct this problem so I can download the file?

I'm not there, so I have no idea why you can't download and save and install it.
