I have a Palm m100 PDA. My desktop system only has USB ports; the Hot Sync cable is a serial port. I bought a converter cable from the Palm site, then tried one from the Gateway site. Both cause my system to hang up on the Add New Hardware Wizard. I've tried different drivers, disabling anti-virus program, everything. Anyone got any ideas? (Palm tech support is a joke!!)

This is quite odd. I didn't realise there were computers out there without serial ports!! Since it is obviously quite high tech does your desktop have an infrared port. If so you could try hot syncing via the infra red port of the palm?? Just a thought.

Are you sure there are no serials? I can't imagine a computer w/out at least one serial... but I guess they are out there. Have you looked for a USB hotsync port? I think 3Com makes those, but not sure. USB converter doesn't make much sense so that might be why it hangs... has anyone used a serial/USB converter before?
