Can't install updates, "can't reach Windows install service, usually happens when Installer is not installed correctly. Contact your Tech Support". No Tech Support on home PC, so trying to find answer on my own. Have returned to previous Set Points without resolution. requesting some steering onto the right course for troubleshooting and recovery. Easy, with capital "E" and primitive skill level instructions vital. Thanks in advance.

Can you install anything else on your computer?

If not,

Press the Windows key + R to open a Run box.

Copy/Paste the following command:

regedit /e C:\look.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer"

Press Enter.

You won't notice anything. However, it will have created a report on your C drive
named look. Attach that file to your next reply.
