I have two computers. One is an older desktop (D) I brought from work. The other is a newer laptop (L). Both have XP Pro on them, and both have a wired connection to my Verizon FIOS router. The problem I am having is that if I create a shared folder on L then I can see it on D but not vice versa.

D has a name that looks something like "foo.bar.com". I have tried accessing its shared folder from L both as \\foo.bar.com\folderName and as \\IPaddress\folderName where IPaddress is the address I got from the ipconfig command on D.

Since this was my old office desktop, I was logging into my corporate network when the computer was there. When I moved it home, I created a local user with admin rights and ave been using this local account to log in. Can this have something to do with my issue?

    thanks much!
