A few months back I encrypted some files on a network share using the EFS built into Windows XP. Everything was was working fine up until a week or so ago. Now I can no longer access these files. It keeps giving me access denied errors. I checked the Advanced settings of the Encrypted folder and show that my username should be transparent to open the files. I also had the user that was set for the Data Recovery Agent try to open the files and could not do so as well. Nothing should have changed on the systems. Any suggestions on how I can open up these files?

You never renamed the user's account from which you want to recover the encrypted files, right?

Nope, nothing was changed. It was working one day and then all of a sudden just stopped. Not sure if a Windows Update or something may have caused corruption
